Church Shift
We believe that the church is not just the building where we congregate to worship, but anywhere two, three, or more gather in God’s name. Church Shift was inaugurated in January 2009 by Pastor Olumide Emmanuel as an outreach arm of Calvary Bible Church, and its scope of operation was adopted from the book, Church Shift by Sunday Adelaja—pastor of one of the biggest churches in Ukraine.
Church Shift takes the gospel/church to the “unchurched” and unbelievers and brings people who are unable to go to church on Sundays into fellowship wherever they are. Church shift activities hold on Sundays, from 7:30am to 9:30am.
Through Church Shift, we have held services at unimaginable places with different people, most of whom were community write-offs. We have seen God’s word transform stony hearts to flesh, heal and transform lives, convert the unbeliever, and deliver men from the trenches of sin. Our greatest joy as always is seeing self-condemned souls on bended knees in total surrender, accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. What else is the calling of a glorious church than turning men to Christ? Luke 15:7 says, joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance’.
Church shift covers street evangelism, brothel outreach, police cell outreach, market evangelism outreach, garage evangelism outreach (Jesus Boys), outreach to football fields, hospital outreach, bus evangelism outreach, counseling/mentoring unit, and Martha’s kitchen — where food is prepared every Sunday for distribution to some of these outreach stations. The kitchen draws it resources from the church and individuals who donate cash and food items from time to time.
